“Just be audacious and do it... Courage in painting isn’t facing the blank canvas, it’s facing Manet, it’s facing Velasquez. All we can do is move beyond what was there, to what is here, and hope to get some intimation of what will be here.”

“I’m a woman of the Americas
Mixed-race, like the history of this continent, this world
Swaddled by the Caribbean Sea
Stigmatized for my skin colour
With the American dream tickling my toes
Not a big-screen TV but
Another Far West, a New World of possibility and equal opportunity.”

The Mural

The artwork

Twenty people who live in the La Cité-Limoilou district of central Quebec City, each connected to a play presented at théâtre La Bordée. From Octobre 6, 2020 to May 15, 2021, theses portraits were displayed as a gigantic mural behind Théâtre La Bordée. At night, projections on each face presented quotations from plays, testament to ways their daily lives embody the art of theatre.
